What is a bmr?
Basal metabolic rate (BMR) estimates the energy the body uses at rest to support essential functions. This calculator uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. It is an equation-based estimate rather than a direct measurement and does not include activity calories.
Formula and calculation method
Men: BMR = 10W + 6.25H − 5A + 5. Women: BMR = 10W + 6.25H − 5A − 161, where W is kg, H is cm and A is years.
The result is only as reliable as the inputs and assumptions. This tool is educational and does not replace professional financial, medical, legal or academic advice.
